Thailand (TAT) Responds to Bangkok Alert

Mr. Sansern Ngairungsi, Deputy Governor - Asia and South Pacific Market of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) last week responded to a question about the Bangkok Terrorism Alert that hit global news media on Friday, 13 January 2012.

Mr. Ngaorungsi was speaking in Q&A session following a press conference at the ATF 2012 in Manado, Indonesia.

More video from the press conference which covered 2011 visitor arrival numbers, targets for 2012 as well as many other interesting topics related to tourism in Thailand will be featured later this week.

Qantas Launches Thailand - Australia Promotion

Qantas Airways Thailand has launched a 'Qantas 91st Birthday Sale' promotion offering customers departing Thailand reduced airfares until 30 November 2011.
Under the promotion, return air tickets between Bangkok and Australia (Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne or Adelaide) are from 16,000 Baht excluding airport taxes, service fees, insurance, fuel and other surcharges.
Customers are eligible to travel from 1 February 2012 to 31 March 2012, and the air tickets are for a maximum of 12 months stay.
Moreover, travellers can have one free stopover and an additional stopover at a charge of 2,000 baht. Date changes are not permitted, and other terms and conditions apply.
From Thailand, Qantas operates daily services to Sydney and passengers are able to connect their preferred flights to domestic routes throughout Australia. Additionally, the airline operates daily services to London from Bangkok.

Korean Air Offers Aid to Flood Victims in Thailand

Korean Air is providing 60 tons of relief goods, including 54,000 liters (36,000 1.5-liter bottles) of mineral water and 60,000 cups of noodles, to flood victims in Thailand.

The first relief goods were delivered to Bangkok via the KE653 flight from Seoul/Incheon on 31 October 2011 and the rest will be transferred through Korean Air?s regular scheduled flights with timing dependent on the situation in Thailand and flight schedules.

Once the relief goods arrive in Bangkok, they will then be handed over to the Thai government for distribution via the Korean embassy in Bangkok.

Due to the devastating flood in Thailand, which started in July, more than 8 million civilians are estimated to have been affected so far and more than 600,000 workers have lost their jobs as industrial areas have been flooded.

New AGM of Landmark Lancaster Hotel Group - Thailand

Mr. Albert Cheong has been appointed as Area General Manager of the Landmark Lancaster Hotel Group, Thailand.

 In Mr. Cheong?s new role, he will be responsible for the group?s existing hotel, The Landmark Bangkok, as well as its upcoming sister hotel, Lancaster Bangkok which is slated to soft-open during the second-half of 2012.

At each hotel, Mr. Cheong is supported by a Hotel Manager who oversees daily operations.

Mr. Cheong was with Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts for more than 28 years where he held various many management positions, including being General Manager of the company?s hotels in Bali, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Singapore, Yangon and Beijing.

The Landmark Lancaster Hotel Group owns and operates hotels of the same names, including the K West brand in both London and Bangkok.
